Dr Joyce Leong, Respiratory and Sleep Physician

Dr Joyce Leong is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician with a strong clinical and academic interest in lung cancer and pulmonary nodules. She is currently undertaking a PhD through the University of Melbourne as part of the MACH Track program and Austin Health, supported by a competitive Australian Government Research Training Program scholarship.

Joyce completed her respiratory and sleep medicine training across Austin Health, including the Victorian Respiratory and Sleep Service (VRSS) and Royal Hobart Hospital, following general medical training at Monash Health and Peninsula Health. She graduated with first-class honours from Monash University.

Her research focuses on improving early detection and management of lung cancer, particularly in the evolving landscape of lung cancer screening. She has published in peer-reviewed journals including Respirology, Respiratory Medicine Today, and the Australian Health Review, and has presented her work at major international conferences including the World Conference on Lung Cancer and the Asia Pacific Society of Respirology.

Joyce is actively involved in medical education with the physician trainees at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and professional leadership, serving on the Victorian committee of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand. She is also an Associate Editor for Respirology.

Joyce manages all respiratory and sleep disorders. She is committed to delivering patient-centred care, with a focus on clear communication, evidence-based practice, and supporting patients through often complex diagnostic pathways.
